Syntropy - the force of your nature

Updated: Mar 16, 2023

If we are tuned in to our nature, every goal, endeavour or move is a study of life. Syntropy embraces an opening up, a coming into contact, a togetherness and interdependency that nourish all species. In a species moment of the now, we are invited to question how we think – what do we include in our stories and how do we tell their parts.

The way we think has everything to do with the way we perceive. The way we perceive has everything to do with the mental patternings that have been shaped by how we lived or have experienced what we call our life. The modern and literate mind is mostly referenced with logic and reason with a diminishing lens through which we encounter each other and our world. And yet stories and storytelling do not discriminated between the educated and unschooled. Stories stretch ways of knowing across generations, meet our bodies with lasting effects and give us resources to connect and imagine.

A syntropic approach promotes the intelligence of nature and creates an opportunity for our planet to be a teacher and guide to how we may care for all beings. As a programme, it will provide a space and network for mycelial connections, biomimetic actions, and nature-informed resources. It will also allow us to confront the limitations of our Western education and re-ignite Indigenous heritage and knowledges to respond and act respectfully for the earth.

A syntropic approach is a interdisciplinary approach. In the words of Gregory Bateson's daughter, Nora Bateson:

"It is learning to learn, both within and about the systems that are inside and outside ourselves, micro, macro, biological and social. More importantly, it is a way of seeing"

(Small Arcs of Larger Circles, 2016, page 90).
